Day of Action

The Day of Action on Saturday was a great success.

From early (7:10, Breakfast radio on Southern Counties) to late afternoon the main focus was on showing the visual effect of a flood barrier (wall, bund or an other) along the top of the Pells area.

The 'wall' looking towards the Pells

Public Acclaim

- "quote"
We estimate around 150 to 200 people came along to look and join in making it the most effective way people have had of really getting to grips with what any part of the scheme could actually look like.

Altogether there was a lot of interest and involvement in what was being demonstrated, and many question raised about both alternatives and the wider development issues

The questionaire sheets

A large number responded to the question sheets - an analysis of which we'll be posting here later.

Our other visual aid - the balloon towers showing the heights of the larger proposed buildings like H-block - was clobbered by the wind, a risk we though worth taking. We'll be attempting to show these later in some other way if nothing's forthcoming from the would-be developers soon.

The 'wall' as vewed from the Pells side

Media Attention

The radio and TV coverage on the day was extremely good for us. This included very positive interviews with Catherine Darcy and Michael Wilson who made the arguments both for the action and against the proposed development most succinctly.

We've show just a couple of pictures here - much better ones to follow. Also if you have any good pictures we could use please email them to us at info@phoenixaction.co.uk
